Nairobi Water benchmarks with Maynilad

Representatives of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd. (NCWSC) recently visited Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) for a study tour training program aimed to enhance their capabilities in water loss management, treatment technologies and warehouse administration.

NCWSC—a water and sewerage service provider with about three million customers in Nairobi City, Kenya— is benchmarking with Maynilad so it can develop strategies to effectively manage its operations, given its high Non-Revenue Water (NRW) or water losses.

As part of the study program, the delegates were given a guided tour of Maynilad’s La Mesa Treatment Plants and its Central Warehouse in Quezon City. Conducting the lecture and tour was the Maynilad Water Academy, the first learning institution in the Philippines dedicated to the advancement of the water and wastewater industry.

“We feel honored to be able to share our expertise with NCWSC. Through this benchmarking activity, we aim to expand the benefits of improved water services to more people, including those from other parts of the world,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is the agent and contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
