February 18, 2017

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently kicked off its “Plant for Life Program" for Muntinlupa at the Baywalk of Barangay Bayanan in Muntinlupa City.

The launch of the "Plant for Life: Muntinlupa Trees Growing Project" was marked by a ceremonial tree-planting activity led by Muntinlupa City Administrator Engr. Allan A. Cachuela (right) and Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez (left). The event also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among the city, Maynilad, and the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) to rehabilitate Laguna Lake by planting trees and establish nurseries for mangrove species propagation along its shoreline.

During the event, some 500 camachile and putat trees were planted in the area by 150 volunteers. This reforestation project aims to minimize sedimentation and siltation in Laguna Lake and to clean seven tributary rivers in Muntinlupa.

Maynilad’s Plant for Life project will be planting 60,000 trees and 15,000 mangroves in various areas this 2017.
