In support of medical personnel at the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maynilad is extending its donation drive to secondary hospitals as it distributes one-gallon bottles of 70% isopropyl alcohol to 32 hospitals located within its West Zone concession areas. The photo shows frontliners from Navotas General Hospital holding the alcohol donations from the water company.
These alcohol donations were purchased by Maynilad from its social enterprise community in Tondo, Manila, which started out as a small, urban poor water cooperative that later became a producer of home care products named “Kapwa”.
Maynilad is set to expand its donation of “Kapwa” alcohols to include Quezon City General Hospital, Caloocan City Medical Center, Ospital ng Parañaque, Ospital ng Muntinlupa, Las Piñas General Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila, Bacoor District Hospital, and Cavite Naval Hospital, among others.
Maynilad continues to conduct several relief activities to assist the frontliners which includes hydration support through donation of around 48K water bottles to several local and national government agencies. It has also donated hygiene kits to 1,200 urban poor families, isolation tents and hygiene kits for the 100-bed quarantine facility in the University of the Philippines Gymnasium, set-up of free metering and piping works to connect the quarantine center at the Philippine Arena to water supply from its subsidiary PhilHydro, and provision of free water supply for the treatment facilities at the World Trade Center, Philippine International Convention Center, and Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, among other initiatives.
